How to Turn Off Advantage+ Creative Enhancements

To turn off Advantage+ creative enhancements, open the ad in Meta Ads Manager, find the Advantage+ creative section at the ad level, and switch off each enhancement one by one. The problem is that this does not stick. The next ad you build or duplicate often starts with them switched on again.

That is why so many advertisers are struggling with Facebook ads right now. The ads are not the problem. The checking is.

What Are Advantage+ Creative Enhancements?

Advantage+ creative enhancements are changes Meta makes to your ad after you upload it. Meta can crop or expand your image, add music, change brightness, move your text around, or add extra text it wrote itself.

Meta says these changes help performance. Sometimes they do. But you did not design that version of the ad, and your client did not approve it.

Where Do You Turn Them Off?

You turn them off at the ad level, not the campaign level. Open the ad, scroll to the creative section, and look for the Advantage+ creative options. Each enhancement has its own switch.

Here is the routine most media buyers end up with:

  1. Open the ad.
  2. Expand the Advantage+ creative panel.
  3. Switch off every enhancement you did not approve.
  4. Check the preview in every placement.
  5. Publish, then open the ad again to make sure nothing changed.

Step five is the one nobody should need. But people do it because they have been burned.

Why Do Creative Enhancements Keep Turning Back On?

They come back because your choice is saved on one ad, not on your account. Meta treats every new ad as a fresh start. When you duplicate an ad, build a new ad set, or launch from a new campaign flow, the defaults come back with it. And the defaults are on.

So you switch them off on Monday. On Tuesday you duplicate the winning ad to test a new headline. The copy has the enhancements back on, and you do not notice until a client asks why their ad has music.

How Do You Stop Checking Every Ad by Hand?

You stop checking by hand when you stop building ads by hand. If your settings live in a template that you set once, every ad gets the same settings without you clicking through the panel again.

This is the part where automation earns its place. Kitchn is built for this exact job. You set your defaults once in a launch sheet, and Kitchn's creative enhancement controls stay off unless you switch them on. Its QA check also flags ads where an enhancement is on that you did not intend, before anything goes live.

Should You Ever Leave Enhancements On?

Yes, if you test them on purpose. Some enhancements, like small brightness fixes, can help. The issue is not the feature. It is that the feature is on when you did not choose it.

Run one ad with enhancements and one without. Compare them. Then make a choice and keep it.

Meta's interface makes you prove your settings every single time. The fix is to stop relying on it to remember.
